Key water upgrade delivered for Céideadh community

The Céideadh community in West Donegal is now benefiting from a major water mains upgrade delivered by Uisce Éireann, providing a more reliable and resilient water supply for local homes and businesses.

Delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme, the project involved the replacement of more than 3.6km of ageing cast iron water mains, representing a significant investment in local water infrastructure. New water service connections were also installed from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries.

The completed works are now delivering tangible benefits for the local community, including improved reliability of supply, enhanced water quality and the elimination of leakage of treated water into the ground from old pipes.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager Patricia Lowry said the project is making a positive difference for customers in Céideadh.

“We are proud to have completed these works for the Céideadh community, who are now seeing the benefits of this significant investment in their water infrastructure. Replacing ageing water mains improves the resilience of the network and provides customers with greater confidence in their water supply. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of customers and road users while these vital works were underway.”

Works were carried out along the R259, from the Burtonport Junction to Céideadh Upper (Céideadh Bridge).  The project was delivered by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
