Water supply returning to customers in Westport

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to customers in Westport after Uisce Éireann crews successfully completed repairs to a significant burst on a water main.

Following investigative works earlier today, teams were abled to isolate and repair the affected section, allowing supply to be restored to a number of impacted customers along the Ballinrobe Rd. Water and water pressure should return to all customers over the course of this evening and tonight.

It typically takes three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those at the end of the network or on higher ground.

Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their understanding while these repair works were being carried out.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned outage such as this one and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while these repairs were underway.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to an overnight burst main in the Sandyhill area of Westport which is impacting supply to customers in the area this morning.

A number of Uisce Éireann customers along the Ballinrobe Rd will be without water until late afternoon/evening as a result of this unplanned outage.

Other areas of Westport, particularly those on high ground, may experience low water pressure until water is fully restored.
Crews are on site this morning dealing with the repair.

It can take two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Caroline Scahill of Uisce Éireann said that crews will work as quickly as possible to repair the burst main and restore supply to normal levels.

“We acknowledge the impact of an unplanned outage, and we want to thank affected customers for their patience while we work to restore supply,” said Caroline.
