Uisce Éireann forges forward with improvements in Clonmel’s water supply
Uisce Éireann has reached a significant milestone in its multi-million-euro investment to strengthen and safeguard Clonmel’s water supply with the construction of 15km of new water mains now complete, connecting the Monroe water treatment plant with the Giant’s Grange reservoir.
The completion of this key network element of the project, will now see the crews move off the roads in the town to focus on remaining elements of this committed investment at the water treatment plant and pumping station to improve the town’s drinking water infrastructure.
Steady progress is being made on the project with the upgrade works at the Monroe plant and Rathronan pumping station. These works when fully complete in Autumn of this year will ensure a safe and reliable supply of water to our customers in Clonmel from the Monroe plant via the Giant’s Grave reservoir.
Speaking following the completion of the pipeline, Uisce Éireann’s Darragh Hannon said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while these works were underway to build 15km of brand-new water mains. They are a vital component of the investment in new water infrastructure underway to provide Clonmel with a safe and secure water supply which will enhance security and resilience across the town into the future.”
Road reinstatement works are taking place this week at night from Rathronan Junction beyond the Halfway House Pub and along the Cashel Road.
Works are also progressing well with the replacement of aged and problematic watermains in the town centre where road refurbishment is also underway.
Uisce Éireann, would like to thank road users and the local community for their continued patience while these essential works to improve the water supply are completed.
