Repairs ongoing on burst main in Ballina

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing work to repair a burst water main which is impacting supply to customers in Ballina today.
It is estimated that the burst will be repaired and supply will begin to return to impacted customers by 6pm this evening.
Uisce Éireann customers in Rathroeen, the Killala Road, Culleens, Breffni, Faranoo and surrounding areas of Ballina Town have been impacted by this outage.
In order to prioritise the safety of the repair crews, road users and the general public, traffic management has been set up around the area of the repair.
Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann thanked impacted customers for their ongoing patience while repairs are underway.
“We understand the impact of an unplanned outage. This repair is a complex one on a busy road but we wish to assure customers that all efforts are being made to carry out the necessary works as quickly and as safely as possible,” said Colette.

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to reports of a water outage in Ballina this morning.
The outage has been caused by a burst main and is impacting customers in Rathroeen, the Killala Road, Culleens, Breffni, Faranoo and surrounding areas of Ballina Town.
Crews have been mobilised to site and are currently working to isolate the burst and begin repairs. To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
Uisce Éireann is conscious that this section of water main has burst multiple times in recent weeks and acknowledges the frustration of customers who have been affected by these repeated water outages.
Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann assured affected customers that crews will work as quickly as possible to repair the burst and restore supply.
“We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by repeated unplanned outages, and we wish to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore supply,” said Colette.
“Unfortunately, often when repairs are made to one section of water main, it can place increased pressure on a nearby section and lead to a burst.”
