Planned nighttime outage in Ballyjamesduff to finalise mains repair

Uisce Éireann is advising customers in Ballyjamesduff of a planned water outage tonight (Thursday, 29 January). 

This planned outage is necessary  to allow for final repairs to be made to the main which burst on the Virginia Road leading from the town last Friday morning. 

Crews carried out substantial works over the weekend and are due to finalise the repairs tonight. For these works to be carried out safely and to cause minimal disruption to customers, water supply to the town will be turned off between the hours of 8pm tonight and 4am tomorrow morning (Friday). 

Peter Gallagher, Uisce Éireann Water Treatment Operations Manager, thanked customers for their support while works are underway to complete repairs to the burst main. 

“This was a complex burst which took time to repair. We provided an alternative water supply for customers and water was restored to those impacted in Ballyjamesduff by Sunday morning,” said Peter. 

“However, in order to complete the job, we need to carry out further works overnight on Thursday, which will result in a planned outage for customers in the town. 

“We wish to thank customers for their understanding and patience as we work to finalise these repairs and restore a full supply.”
