Overnight restrictions lifted in Laois as raw water reservoir levels stabilise
Uisce Éireann has lifted the overnight water restrictions that had been in place for a number of days for customers supplied by the Ballyadams Reservoir, part of the Kyle Water Scheme, following an improvement in raw water reservoir levels.
The restrictions, which were introduced to safeguard daytime supply while raw water reservoir levels recovered, are no longer required, and supply has now returned to normal across the affected areas.
Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce thanked customers for their cooperation during the restrictions and encouraged continued water conservation. “We would like to thank the community for their patience and support while these measures were in place. While restrictions have now been lifted, we continue to ask all customers to be mindful of their water usage, particularly during periods of increased demand and dry weather.”
While supplies have stabilised, ongoing pressure on water sources during prolonged dry conditions can impact local water levels.
Uisce Éireann is therefore reminding customers that careful water use remains essential to help protect these vital resources and ensure a sustainable supply for homes, farms and businesses. For further information on water conservation for homes, businesses and farms, please visit the Conservation section of our website.

Previous Updates
Uisce Éireann is introducing overnight restrictions for some customers supplied by the Ballyadams Reservoir which is part of the Kyle Water Scheme in an effort to safeguard daytime supply.
The restrictions will be in place from 10pm to 7am starting tonight 27 May and will be in place each evening until further notice. The restrictions are necessary due to demand outstripping supply at the reservoir.
Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to normal levels. “We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover.”
Given the increased demand and dry weather, we need to ensure a daytime water supply is available for homes and businesses while we allow reservoir levels time to recover overnight. We continue to ask customers to be mindful of their water usage during this time.
