Water supply returning to customers in Galway City following repair works
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann crews have successful completed repairs to a significant burst on a water main at the Headford Road in Galway City. Supply is now returning to normal for customers affected by supply disruptions as a result of this burst earlier today.
Crews worked from morning to isolate and repair the burst main, which caused supply disruptions to homes and businesses in the areas of the Headford Road, Tirellan Heights, Sandyvale Lawn and Castlelawn Heights. Some customers in Ballinfoyle Park, Cluain Riocard, Bothar an Choiste, Baile an Choiste, Sceilig Ard and Ballinfoyle Mews were also impacted by low water pressure.
The repairs were successfully completed at 6pm and supply is now returning to normal levels for customers affected by this outage.
Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann thanked impacted residents and business owners for their patience while repairs were ongoing.
“This was a complex burst which took time to isolate and repair,” said Leo. “Our crews were able to divert flows to reduce the impact of the burst and maintain water supply to the city.
“We understand the frustration that can be caused by unplanned outages, and we thank impacted customers for their understanding while repairs were underway.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network as the network recharges.
