Crews repairing burst water main impacting Cashel Reservoir
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major burst to water main supplying Cashel Reservoir and restore water to customers affected.
The burst has resulted in low treated water reservoir levels in Cashel Reservoir which will result in an interruption to supply for customers in Deerpark, Spafield Road, Woodlands, Caiseal na Ri, and surrounding areas.
Alternative Water Supplies are in place at Cashel Rugby Club, Oliver Plunket, the Fire Station, Cashel National School and Woodlawn.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
To help maintain treated water reservoir levels and protect daytime supplies in Cashel, overnight water restrictions will remain in place from 8pm to 8am until further notice.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”
Our crews are continuing repair works and we expect to have them completed later this evening. Water supply will start to return once the repairs are finished, but it may take until tomorrow morning for supply to be fully restored to all customers as treated water reservoirs gradually refill overnight. We know this disruption is frustrating and we thank customers for their patience while we work to restore normal supply.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
