Boil Water Notices lifted on the Golden to Cashel Public Water Supply and Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Families, businesses and all other customers supplied by both the Golden to Cashel Public Water Supply and the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme can return to using their water supply as normal following the lifting of both Boil Water Notices.
The team in Uisce Éireann, following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), can confirm that the water is now safe to drink, prepare food with, and use as normal.
The notices have been lifted following completion of remedial works on both supplies and a series of satisfactory water quality tests. Customers on both supplies can now resume normal use of their water supply.
We understand the disruption and inconvenience the notices have caused for customers and would like to thank everyone in the community for their patience, cooperation, and support while the necessary works were carried out.
The Boil Water Notice on the Golden to Cashel Public Water Supply was issued on 25 July to protect the health of approximately 4,800 customers due to high levels of turbidity in the raw water at Springmount Water Treatment Plant.
The Boil Water Notice on the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme was issued on 31 July to protect the health of approximately 11,800 customers. The notice was put in place due to reduced availability of raw water which created challenges for the disinfection processes at the treatment plant.
Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked hard to lift both notices for impacted customers as quickly and as safely as possible.
Uisce Éireann's Pierce Faherty acknowledged the impact of the notices on local communities.
“As a team, we live and work in the communities we serve, so we understand the importance of having a safe and reliable water supply every day. We are pleased to restore normal service and would like to thank the community for the support they have shown throughout this process.
“I also want to express our thanks to elected representative and the media for their assistance in sharing public health information while the notices were in place”.
