Looking after Inishowen’s water supply: Essential reservoir cleaning works get underway

To keep the Inishowen reservoirs that store your water running reliably, our crews in Uisce Éireann will be carrying out some essential cleaning works this coming week.
From Monday, 21 September to Friday, 25 September, works will take place to prevent any issues and keep the reservoirs in top condition.
When the works are underway, homes and businesses in Newtowncunningham, Aughaweel, Buncrana, Milltown and Manorcunningham and nearby areas might see reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration, or intermittent supply during or after the works.
On Monday, our crews will be working on the reservoir in Dooish but will not start until the local school closes at 3pm. These works will affect our customers in the Newtowncunningham area.
Wednesday, 23 September will see works in Aughaweel which may affect our customers in the Buncrana area. On Thursday, 24 September, our crews will be working in Ballyliffin, and on Friday we will round off the week of essential works in the Milltown Manorcunningham area.
Damien O’Sullivan, Uisce Éireann Water Networks Operation Manager for Co Donegal has assured customers that every effort is being made to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.
“This programme of works is part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the quality and reliability of the water supply for homes and businesses across the county. While bypass systems are in place at some reservoirs to help minimise disruption, customers may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration, or intermittent supply during or after the works.
“Our crews will be working with care to have everything back to normal as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience as we carry out these essential works.”

Essential maintenance at reservoirs across Inishowen is continuing this week as Uisce Éireann works to safeguard drinking water quality and support reliable water supplies for local communities.
Crews will continue carrying out reservoir cleaning at a number of sites over the coming days.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, cleaning works are scheduled to commence at Gleneely Reservoir, Culdaff, from 4pm.
On Thursday, 17 September, crews will begin work at Crislemore Reservoir, Moville, at 8am, before carrying out maintenance at Keenagh Reservoir (Malin Head) from 4pm.
On Friday, 18 September, maintenance works will take place at Drumhaggert Reservoir, Muff, from 8am.
Some customers served by these reservoirs may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent interruptions to their water supply during or shortly after the works. Crews will endeavour to minimise disruption and restore normal supply levels as quickly as possible.

Customers are advised that water may appear discoloured for a short period following the completion of works. If this occurs, running the cold kitchen tap for a few minutes should help the water return to normal.

On Monday, 14 September, Uisce Éireann crews will begin essential reservoir maintenance at Malin Town Reservoir, Culdaff, from 8am. Similar works will take place at Umgall Reservoir, Portahack, later that afternoon.
On Tuesday, 15 September, crews will commence work at Aughaweel Reservoir, Drumfries, from 8am, before carrying out maintenance at Black Mountain Reservoir, Portahack on Tuesday afternoon.
Some customers served by these reservoirs may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent interruptions to their water supply during or shortly after the works. Crews will endeavour to minimise disruption and restore normal supply levels as quickly as possible.

Following the works, customers may notice temporary discolouration of their water. If this occurs, customers are advised to run the cold kitchen tap until the water runs clear.
